Growing up, art was how I made sense of the world. Now, I help students do the same.

Personal Biography:

My full name is Kaeleigh Shaye Mackiewicz. I was born in Trenton, NJ, on October 27 with my quadruplet siblings. My closest family members include my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nieces and nephews, and cousins. I was raised in Palmyra and Cinnaminson, NJ, where I attended the Palmyra School District for Pre-K, Elementary, and Middle School and the Cinnaminson Township Public School District for High School. I attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania for a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Weaving and Textile Material Studies, where I will be graduating in Spring 2025.

Outside of education, I have an array of hobbies, including playing with my pets, participating in sports, crocheting, clothing design, photography, reading, writing, traveling to vase cultures, and studying cultural and religious significance through artistic mediums. Notably, within my weaving and textile material studies, I focus my artwork on my culture as a Polish American. Create textile-based bodies of artwork that contribute to the ideals associated with Polish traditions, values, art techniques, landscapes, culture, and community.

My long-term goal is to be an inspirational art facilitator, educator, and advocate. In this role, I can create a communal, comfortable, and open space for young artists to explore and delve into various mediums and crafts.

Educational Biography:

In addition to fulfilling my educational requirements, attending clubs at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and volunteering, I became a desk receptionist (DR) while living on campus. The DR's role is to provide excellent customer service, build community within the residence halls, and ensure students' safety and security through professional and extensive training. Through this experience, I learned how to become a mandated reporter, became familiar with the Kutztown University community, and how to create a close, supported working relationship with professional Reslife Housing staff and peer staff members.

As part of my art education major, I have been exposed to various artistic mediums outside my concentration, such as darkroom and digital photography, drawing and figure drawing, ceramics, digital media, painting, and sculpture.

I have also attended professional art educational conferences that expanded my knowledge and skills within the field. These conferences include the English Language Learner (ELL) Conference, the Ujima Leadership and Development Conference, and the 2024 Social Change at the Intersections of Art Education.
